SOMALIAN PRESIDENT SUGGESTS al-SHABAAB SHOULD BE DEFEATED WITHIN FIVE MONTHS

​According to a statement from the president's office, Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, he was declared that his country's armed forces would defeat the militant group al-Shabaab within five months. The announcement marks the latest move in the ongoing fight against the group, which has been active in Somalia since 2006 and is considered one of the most dangerous terrorist organisations in the world. 

​In his statement, President Mohamed said that the Somali National Army is prepared to liberate the nation from the threat of al-Shabaab and that the military is 'working with the backing of the international community' to ensure the group's defeat. He also stressed the importance of the unity of the Somali people in achieving this goal and urged the population to support the government's efforts. 

The president has also expressed his commitment to providing security and stability, noting that the government is implementing a comprehensive plan to strengthen the country's security and justice systems. The announcement has been met with support from the international community, with the United Nations Security Council commending the efforts of the Somali government in combating al-Shabaab. The United States has also expressed its willingness to support the country's efforts in defeating the militants.
